Kayaking in Key West

Kayaking in Key West

Off the coast of Florida are her famed keys, more specifically Key West. Home to some the most beautiful waters in the U.S or at least arguably. Here you'll find pristine waters, delightful cocktails, wild nightlife and notably Key lime pie.

If you're look for places to stay and enjoy, check out H2O and let your vacation truly begin in this amazing "island." You'll find plenty of things to do on Key West including bike rides, walking tours, museums and some of our favorite activities on the water.

Most people gravitate towards snorkeling, boat rentals, jet skis and often heading out the National Park: Dry Tortugas. Though many don't think about staying on the quiet and laid back activities, don't pass up the chance to Kayak the mangroves. Just a short drive from the Main Street-- Duval, you'll nearly miss this exit for the adventure paddle boards, kayaking and jet ski rentals.

Here you are greeted by the friendly folks at Lazy Dog in Cow Key Marina. They'll get you set up and on the water in no time! You'll be given a map with multiple routes you can take. Depending on you time, you can take a longer route or a shorter one or decide what you want on your own.

They're going to let you know about any issues or precautions to take while out on the water so be alert and know that they're looking out for your safety. If you're lucky, you'll see tons of wildlife, but don't just look in the water. You may see things hiding in the trees and tree line. We ended up seeing a black iguana in the trees just as we were coming back in.

Enjoy the ride. We high suggest going out in the morning when it's less crowded. For more on Key West. Check out our video:
