Where to stay on the road

Where to stay on the road

There are tons of FREE ways to stay across the US and the world with amazing apps, sites and subscriptions. Places like Roadtrippers offer customers valuable information to help them plan their trips, where to stay and what's near by.

You can also use sites or apps like OnXOffRoad, Harvest Host and Hipcamp to find unlimited amounts of stays. Places can be almost anywhere and of any kind from a parking lot to a farm. The more you browse, the more you'll find. Now some of your hosts may require a minimum or maximum stay and request your purchase something from their establishment.

For instance, Harvest Host suggests to make a purchase from your host (if available) and sometimes the host has a donation link inside their profiles. Often times you need to book 24 hours in advance while other host take last minute reservations.

Of course, there are always rest stops along the way but often times not the most desirable place as people are coming and going all day and night. Truck stops can be a similar feel, but you do have some options. At Loves, you have the option of showers and food vendors but not all truck stops are created equal.

Most famously, Walmart comes in at the top of the list of places to park overnight with little to no disturbances, however not all Walmart's are available for parking as many are changing their hours across the US.

Here's a list of places we've stayed both in the US and abroad:
