Where to spend your Denver Layover

Often times you won't be planning to stay over in another city, but sometimes the weather and other aviation delays will say other wise. By chance you do find yourself with a layover or perhaps you just want to stay near by, this city has a really great one and within 3 minutes of the security check point!

The Mile High city boasts some of the most turbulent air coming into the airport, ranking number 2 just after Portland, Oregon. Despite the rough air, its airport hotel location, The Westin Denver has some of the most plushy beds to rest your head. Incase you get in late, this haven will save you.

Where to find it:

Located just outside the Security and a short walk across the outdoor atrium, the Westin welcomes you up one escalator or elevator ride. The lobby is bright and airy with an open floor plan, tall arched ceilings, tons of windows and a small bar with big offerings. Check in can be a quick process late nights and mid-day but morning beware; there is usually a line lingering in the lobby for a few hours between 10-1 pm. 

What to expect:

There are plenty of chairs, couches and desks scattered around the lobby to host your for a few hours and if you need a pick me up, on the main level is a coffee shop serving up Starbucks lattes and more plus snacks and on the go meals. You'll also find a main level restaurant with Italian-American cuisine and across the atrium another American restaurant with burger favorites, wings and local brews.

The hotel offers a spa, indoor swimming pool and a pretty amazing gym overlooking the airport and the atrium. Here, the pool and gym are definitely worth a visit even just to soak in the hot tub or take a little walk on the treadmill. Book your spa appointment in advance, if possible. Many travelers are thinking the same things so get in while you can!

Book a room here, you will not be disappointed with the accommodations. Pillowy soft beds and fresh white linens will greet you for a lovely slumber. Take advantage of the in room robes and Nesspresso coffee maker. Most rooms have plenty of desk space for a quiet working environment and floor to ceiling windows for lots of natural light overlooking the airport, tarmac and even downtown views. Should you like to workout in a more secluded place on your own, ask the front desk for a workout kit!
